Whither Kensington?

I’ve lived in Kensington Market in downtown Toronto since 1978.

The unique, colourful, feisty mix of houses and shops is my home and my family.

I tried to move to a small Ontario town two hours’ drive away in 2005 – I lasted three years. I missed the people, the crowded streets and the lively bustle of Kensington.

The Market has changed during its more than 100 years of life. Waves of immigrants have replaced waves of immigrants. Now, merchants of organic meat, Caribbean hot sauce, Chinese bok choy and Mexican salsa mingle with other multi-culti flavours. Bars attract young people. Buskers make their music on sidewalks.

Enjoy this collection of podcasts and blogs. It comes from my heart ❤.
